Minna Kim is a second-generation Korean-American from New York City. She is currently pursuing her M.A. degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in fashion and textile history, theory, and museum practice with a focus on conservation. In 2022, her cohort co-curated an exhibition at FIT titled, “Asian-Americans in New York Fashion: Design, Labor, Innovation.”
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she studied biochemistry and visual arts. She spent her senior year researching the effects of HDACi (Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors) on cancer cell lines. Her love for research and art led her to art conservation, which she further explored as an extern at the paper conservation department of The Metropolitan Museum of Art upon graduating.
Outside of academics, Minna is heavily involved in the fashion industry as a model and has taken part in New York Fashion Week since 2020.
