Are you ready to move under the influence of the moon? In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Museum of Chinese in America is excited to collaborate with Choreographer Jiemin Yang for a special community dance workshop inspired by the moon, Moonlit Motion.

Join us for a captivating 90-minute community dance workshop where you’ll explore dynamic, moon-inspired movements that draw from the deep symbolism of the celestial moon in Asian culture. This open-level class, led by choreographer Jiemin Yang, offers a sneak peek into his latest contemporary dance project, Portraits of the Moon. (Mark your calendars for the showings on Sep 15, Oct 18 & 19. more details here).

This workshop invites you to express your unique stories, identities, and ideas through body movement while celebrating the vibrant spirit of AAPI culture. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the power of the moon and be part of something truly special! Come dance and feel the moon’s magic!

What to expect at the workshop:

This workshop welcomes participants of all experience levels. We’ll kick things off with a lively warm-up, dive into creative movement exercises, and then followed by an upbeat dance combo set to some fun tunes. Come as you are—just make sure you’re dressed comfortably to move and don’t forget your water bottle. Let’s get moving and have some fun!

*This dance workshop is recommended for participants 16 years of age and older.

What Should I Wear?

Any clothing that allows you to move comfortably. You may wear socks, sneakers, or shoes comfortable for dancing during the class.
