A Work-in-Progress Performance
Free Admission | Registration Required
Performance begins at 6:30 P.M.
Months after the resident performing artists’ presentation, Performer-Playwright-Filmmaker Nancy Ma returns to the Museum of Chinese in America to share This Body Was Made for Bleeding, her 2023-24 PAIR residency project—a work-in-progress that explores the complexities of womanhood, motherhood, and daughterhood. Beginning in October 2024, Nancy spent five months as part of MOCA’s Performing Artist-in-Residence program, delving into personal histories and experimenting with the integration of video into live, interactive performances. Her public presentation of the project in February was met with enthusiasm, with audiences praising the openness and innovative approach to such deeply personal themes. As Nancy continues to develop this piece, MOCA is excited to present the next iteration of her work.
