The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) invites you to an engaging discussion with Cassindy Chao, the highly respected dating coach, matchmaker, and author of Ancient Wisdom, Modern Love: Chinese Wisdom for Dating Success. Cassindy’s newly expanded edition of her book features family stories, cherished recipes, and heartfelt reflections on love and relationships.
This joyful conversation will inspire you to trust your inner strengths while forging deeper connections in friendship, work, and love. Together, we’ll explore how traditional Chinese wisdom can shape modern dating practices, with a special focus on the Asian American experience. Cassindy will reveal how timeless Chinese proverbs and idioms offer guidance for navigating the complexities of relationships in 2025. She will also address the unique challenges faced by Asian Americans in dating and share practical strategies for fostering self-awareness and building meaningful connections.
After the discussion, stay for MOCA’s Film Club, a quarterly program celebrating the innovation and bold storytelling of Asian and Asian American cinema, presented in partnership with the New York Asian Film Festival. This session features a screening of Justin Lin’s acclaimed film Better Luck Tomorrow (2002), followed by a brief conversation with MOCA’s Curator Herb Tam and NYAFF’s Executive Director Sam Jamier, and concludes with a casual networking reception.
