Stuff your own good luck charm! Fill a festive fabric sachet (香包 xiāng bāo) with fragrant dried flowers and aromatic herbs that are sure to please the senses.

Whatever Floats Your Boat Design Challenge | Cheng Gallery
Design a floatable mini dragon boat from bamboo, foam, or cork. Will your boat be seaworthy? Try our buoyancy challenge to find out!

Drumroll, Please! | CPC
Learn the significance of drumming in a dragon boat race and then create and embellish a simple drum to practice your drumming skills.

Lizard & Toad Fly Catchers | CPC
Lizards and toads are two of the five poisonous pests that come out around the time of the Dragon Boat Festival. Using a cardboard tube, rubber band, and lots of color, create your own fly-catching lizard or toad to protect you all year round.

Paddles Up! with the United East Athletics Association | Classroom | 11:30 AM**
Discover the origins of dragon boat racing and learn what it takes to be part of a dragon boat team with members from the United East Athletics Association. Meet experienced dragon boat racers, explore authentic equipment, and learn about the roles of dragon boat crew members and how dragon boat racing has evolved over time during this interactive session.

MOCAKIDS Storytime: Row, Row, Row Your Boat! Storytime | Learning Center | 10:30 AM
Time to row and go, go, go! Learn about the legends, foods, and traditions that make up the Dragon Boat Festival during our Dragon Boat Storytime. Bring your cameras for a special photo opportunity.

Creepy Crawly Bug Hunt | Meets in Lobby | Ongoing, 10-10:30 AM & 11 AM-12 PM
Some people consider the Dragon Boat Festival (also called the Double Fifth Festival) to be one of the unluckiest days of the year. Join MOCA on a gallery hunt to drive away the five poisonous pests and protect the museum from bad luck. Be sure to bring your xiāng bāo for good luck!—and a flyswatter!

MOCA is excited to have reopened its indoor exhibitions and to welcome you back for engaging family programs. For the health and safety of our visitors, we’ve made a few changes to our policies. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to abide by all visitor guidelines and any additional safety protocols that may be in effect upon your arrival.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Wear a Mask
  All visitors two years and older must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth during the entire length of their visit. MOCA reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone who declines to wear a face mask or comply with visitor safety guidelines.
• Book your Dragon Boat Family Festival tickets in advance!
  All visitors, including Museum members, must reserve a timed entry ticket prior to visiting. Festival capacity is limited. Click here to book your timed tickets to MOCA’s Dragon Boat Family Festival on Saturday, July 31st now!
• Two identical, in-person sessions will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM and 2 PM – 4 PM. Be sure to review session start times and select the one that works best for you. Regretfully, sessions cannot be extended for latecomers.
• Timed Entry
  During MOCA’s Dragon Boat Family Festival, you can enter the Museum at any time during your ticketed timed session. All visitors must exit the Museum at the end of their timed session so that the Museum can be cleaned.
• Your timed entry is for general Family Festival admission. To ensure proper physical distancing, there may still be wait times to enter specific galleries and museum spaces.
• Practice Physical Distancing
  Families are asked to stay 6 feet apart from one another and give each other the space they need to navigate the Museum safely and comfortably. Children must stay with adults at all times.
• Coat Check is Closed
  Coat check is not open at this time. To help maximize space, we ask that you leave any large bags or bulky items at home. Strollers may be left in designated stroller parking areas.
• Cafe is Closed
  There are no food or drink offerings at the Museum at this time. Food and beverages may not be consumed while inside the Museum.
• New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory 
  Travel guidelines require all New Yorkers, as well as those visiting from out-of-state or another country, to take personal responsibility for compliance in the best interest of public health and safety. Visitors who have arrived from another state or country should consult New York’s updated travel guidelines.
• Exposure to COVID-19
  An inherent risk of exposure to coronavirus (COVID-19) exists in any public place where people are present. People visiting the Museum of Chinese in America do so at their own risk. By visiting the Museum, you voluntarily assume all risks for yourself and minors in your custody and understand that you may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by entering the Museum.
