上海商务印书馆20年代研制的舒振东中文打字机，是中国第一台批量生产的打字机。这是一台非常复杂的机器，证明了中国人在解决如何输入数千个汉字的语言难题方面的聪明才智。 MOCA 拥有西半球仅有的三台此类打字机之一。

火灾后的情况：
这台机器有许多活动部件松动、开裂和腐蚀。木质底座和抽屉翘曲开裂。橡胶圆筒、塞子和支脚已经变形并且发粘。
机器的整个表面都积聚了大量油性污垢。这种污垢会加速腐蚀，例如固定印刷胶带的铜合金部件。打字机的整个表面还有许多擦伤、划痕、附着物和水渍线。

- 去除墨带罐周围的腐蚀产物
- 消除或减少数百字块模的腐蚀
- 稳定打字机的松散部件
