One of the works featured in our current exhibit, “Responses,” is a heart-shaped vessel ????covered in beautiful sparkling crystals????. Visitors can write messages of love and support and place them inside the vessel. For this week’s MOCACREATE at Home, learn how to make and decorate your own heart-shaped envelope! ???? Want it to sparkle? We love adding glitter, sequins, and stickers! ✨

Step 1: Fold your paper in half and use a pencil to draw a half heart, which will look a little like the shape of an ice cream cone.
Step 2: Use your scissors to cut along the pencil line.
Step 3: Unfold what you cut out to reveal a heart!
Step 4: Fold the bottom tip up about 1/3 of the way and unfold. Fold the top portion down about 1/3 of the way and unfold. (We’ll use the fold lines later to help make the envelope shape!)
Step 5: Fold the left and right sides of your heart inwards, so they meet in the middle.
Step 6: Using the folds you created earlier, fold down the top portion of your heart toward the center. (You’ll be folding along the crease that you made earlier.)
Step 7: Press down firmly to flatten out the fold you just made.
Step 8: Turn your paper upside down so the pointy part is on top. Then, fold the point over so it forms a flap to close the envelope. It should reach down 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down the paper. Now you’ve got an envelope! What message will you put inside?
