Make Your Own Olympic Mascot
August Living Arts Family Program

Be introduced to the mascots of the Beijing Olympics, the Fuwa, and explore the art and symbolism behind them: why is there a fish, a panda, a Tibetan antelope, and a swallow?  What special meanings do their headpieces have?  Listen to stories about the mascots and then make and decorate your own!

When:  Saturday, August 16th from 1:30-3:00 PM
Fee: $3 per head; free for MOCA members and children under 5

RSVP is recommended, but walk-ins are okay.  Call 212-619-4785 or email education@mocanyc.org with your name, contact information, and number of people.

Living Arts is a weekly activity for children, which fosters a deeper understanding of Chinatown and Chinese American history and culture through the use of visual and graphic arts.  Experimenting in a different medium each month, children are taught basic skills to create takeaway pieces inspired by themes found in MOCA’s exhibits & collections; Chinese culture; and the local neighborhood.  Programs are most suitable for children between 5 and 12 years of age.  Supplies are provided unless otherwise noted.
